Artist's Description

Safe Harbor, an oil on canvas, was inspired by my husband and I needing a painting in our bedroom. We settled on a sunset due to the bright colors, the calmness of the water and loved the way the sun shines through the sail of the boat. This one was so much fun to paint, and is one of mine and my husband's favorites.

A sailboat or sailing boat is a boat propelled partly or entirely by sails smaller than a sailing ship. Distinctions in what constitutes a sailing boat and ship vary by region and maritime culture.

Although sailboat terminology has varied across history, many terms have specific meanings in the context of modern yachting. A great number of sailboat-types may be distinguished by size, hull configuration, keel type, purpose, number and configuration of masts and sail plan.

About Candace Antonelli

Candace Antonelli

In one of the suburbs east of Dallas, Texas, Candace began her art journey with dry media, such as colored pencil, pen, graphite, pastel and charcoal in 2000. By 2003, she began painting in oil, of which, as she expresses, is her favorite medium. Her artwork involves painting in oil on canvas or panel with brushes, palette knives, toothpicks and anything else that will provide the desired expression for the painting at hand, ranging from realism to a slightly looser style. Inspired by the way light hits a child, the beautiful glistening seascape, the delicate flower, trees and landscape or the cuteness of a pet, Candace enjoys painting light and color that encourages good and positive emotions. Candace attended two years of drawing...
